Lot-et-Garonne is a lesser-known department, but well worth a visit. Rent a holiday home and discover this region located in the Nouvelle Aquitaine. Surrounded by the Périgord, the Landes and the Gers, it is easy to see that the weather is lovely, the sky is bright almost all year round and the food is delicious. Beaches are not far away, and the Atlantic coast offers clean waters and good quality swimming. The cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse are about 2 hours away, in case you want to join the crowds for a day before returning to relax by your private pool.
The area is full of medieval remains and has suffered the wars between France and England over the centuries.
