In the Eastern part of Andalusia, between Adra and Mojacar, hides Costa de Almeria. A gem that borders with Costa del Sol. Desert landscapes, golden beaches and typical white villages are part of the landscape here.
The capital Almeria is certainly worth a visit and Mojacar has been declared one of Spain's most beautiful villages. With its Moorish and Arab influences, even the architectural rookie is impressed. Whitewashed houses, narrow alleys and thanks to its location on a hill you can enjoy a fabulous view of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches of Almeria. This city still attracts many artists who gain inspiration under the bright sun.
You can enjoy a busy atmosphere at the famous seaside resorts such as Aguadulce and Roquetas de Mar, but in the cozy Vicar you can absorb the local life at the various markets. The Costa de Almeria also has some beautiful nature reserves. Well-known mountain ranges such as the Sierra de Alahamilla, Sierra de Gador and Sierra de Filabres protect this coastal strip from the fierce northern wind. But it is the Cabo de Gata, the desert of Tabernas and the Sierra Nevada that are highly recommended by the enthusiasts. The variation between the rocky and desert-like landscapes, salt lakes and pink flamingos are a delight to the eye.
On the Costa de Almeria you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine, but this region is mainly known for its picturesque mountain villages and beautiful fauna and flora.
