Summer holidays are what we all wait for, we can agree on that. But once we start stepping out of winter, once the days are longer, then we all want to rush out into the sunshine. And some destinations are just more pleasant in spring than in summer; just the thought of visiting Seville in August is enough to put anyone off history altogether.

April is a fabulous month to take a holiday. A few days off to unwind or the full-blown two weeks according to the children’s school holidays? Weather at home may not be great, and we have many options to offer you.

Three of our best reasons to go on holiday in April:

Better prices: whichever way you turn it and however pleasant it is to go on holiday in April, it is still not the classic summer high season. This is the only reason why you’ll get a better deal, otherwise it’s the same great quality houses!

Good weather: As we’ve said, sometimes dragging teenagers in forty-degree heat to convince them of our historical heritage is painful for everyone. Why not combine both culture and relaxation? Only in spring!

Less tourists: There are simply always less people in spring than summer so yes, the streets can be yours, and no need to peer between shoulders for sights or fight for a corner of the sandy beach you’ve been wanting to lie on.

And for those of you looking to combine holidays and sports, trekking across the Italian hills or cycling through French natural reserves, then April is a must.
