By definition, there is no way you can get bored in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. In French, the name means the “island on the Sorgue”, so the town is literally on the river Sorgue, with all the activities this entails. The weather is delightful all year round, as it is in the Vaucluse, with its rivers and lakes, and there are many magnificent cities to visit.
Let’s take you on a tour of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and you will quickly understand why we love it there. Rent a holiday house with a private swimming pool in the area and you will enjoy a wonderful holiday.
The local market takes place on Thursdays and Sundays, and it is a beautiful medley of colours on the river. There is also what is called “a floating market” that takes place right on the water, the first Sunday of August, and it is worth the sight! Market produce in the South of France gives fruit and vegetables a whole new taste.
There are nature activities in the area, take a ten-minute drive out to Passerelles des Cimes and watch your children turn into jungle people for a day. A fun day out for the entire family!
The Fontaine de Vaucluse is certainly worth a visit, and it is the source of the Sorgue river. Emerald waters and lunch in the shade under secular trees, delicious local specialties and wine, that sounds like a plan.
Granted, you will want to enjoy your holiday house with your private swimming pool, an evening barbecue, perhaps a glass of Provençal rosé wine in the afternoon. But there is a lot to do in the area!
Take a drive to Avignon which is about 40 minutes away. Discover the liveliest city in Provence, with its Festival during the entire month of July. On another day, visit Aix-en-Provence, with its terraces all over the city and its sheer beauty.
If you are an art lover, then this area will thrill you, between Cézanne who stayed and worked in Aix-en-Provence, Van Gogh who lived and worked in Arles, both an hour away.
Another option is to head out to the beach at Martigues, which is also just over an hour away. Have a great time then head back to your private swimming pool, your very own barbecue, and enjoy your own privacy in the south of France.
Rent a holiday house with a private swimming pool near Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and you cannot go wrong. The Vaucluse area is full of things to do!
